The Little Things

My sweet Oliver is officially 10 months old!  It is like the kid grew up over night.  He is conquering so many obstacles!

1.  He is rolling front to back and back to front.
2.  He is eating baby food.
3.  He is saying “Da-da”.
4.  He is saying “Ma-ma”.
5.  He is clapping his hands.

I am having so much fun with this little man.  A year ago, I would never have thought my life would be so rewarding.  Oliver makes me smile and laugh at all the little things.  It is the “little things” that are such a blessing.  This month I had a moment when I realized how blessed I am to still have Oliver in my life.  Things could have turned out differently for us.  I thank God everyday that He chose to use a surgeon’s hands to heal my sweet Ollie.  Oliver didn’t just have one hole in his heart; he had three holes in his heart!  So, yes!  Those “little things” are the most wonderful, joyful, rewarding, and beautiful things in my life.

Oliver’s smile lights up the room.  His laughter makes you laugh.  His hair makes you smile.  His joy is contagious.  I am so grateful for the opportunity to raise such a sweet child.

There was  a time when I dreaded the future.  When I found out about Oliver’s diagnosis of Down syndrome and tetralogy of fallot, I was petrified of the what was ahead for us.  Now, I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us!
