Disney is a place I have always wanted to visit. I was like a small child planning this trip! Pure excitement! Unfortunately, I am not a fan of flying. It was a very LONG drive with three little ones and Luke. But, I can honestly say it was well worth it. The kids were able to see and visit places they would have never have seen or visited if we flew there. We stopped and visited Savannah, Georgia on the way to Disney. It was gorgeous! I am going to plan a trip there with just the hubby!
2016 Epic Family Vacation
This year we took an epic trip to Florida! ! To go to Disney! Taking Oliver on vacation with us was one of the best gifts ever! A year and a half ago we were fighting to keep this little man alive. I wasn’t able to make any plans for the future. I lived day by day. Not knowing what was ahead for us. Not knowing what to expect. This vacation was exactly what our family needed. There were multiple times I had tears of joy for the fact that we had ALL three of our kids at Disney with us! I cannot imagine my life without Oliver in it! He is such a blessing! I cannot tell you how many people touched him! His smile and joy is so contagious that this kid literally draws people to him!
I wasn’t sure what to expect out of Oliver on this trip. Luke wanted me to leave him home. I am so glad we took him with us. He LOVED everything about Disney and Sea World. My heart seriously could have exploded with joy watching the three kids.
At first I wasn’t sure if I wanted to take part in the disability access service card. (Basically it is a FastPass that allows us to move to the front of the line and allows us to use our stroller in buildings where you are not allowed to take strollers.) After thinking about all the tears shed, hours spent at doctors appointments, and days and nights spent in the hospital, I decided it would be appropriate for us to use the service. I am not sure why I am so against Oliver taking the easy road. I want him to work hard and be a fighter. I want him to be an equal! I do not want him ever using Tetralogy of Fallot or Down syndrome as an excuse! I am glad we used this service. He wouldn’t have been able to tolerate the long lines and the HEAT!
This poor little man was still recovering from croup on our trip. Considering how he felt and the sleep deprivation, this kid was so content. He would get short power naps, but he really needs his one to two hour naps twice a day! And, I am pretty sure he has started the teething process.
Oliver took turns riding with my husband and I. He loved the music and the lights! Did I tell you that Oliver loves rap music? We discovered this on the drive. Luke and I do not listen to rap, but I guess we will be now!
We visited a place called Sea Life. It was like a miniature version of Sea World. It was more hands on! Of course we loved it!
Sea World was their favorite place! Luke and Ethan enjoyed roller coasters while Charlie and I enjoyed fun drinks and delicious food! We also meet a very sweet family with a 5 year old son with Down syndrome.
This is how Oliver felt about the penguins! He LOVED them! I have never seen Oliver make this face. I couldn’t stop laughing! It was a wicked 32 degrees in this room! Oliver didn’t care about the cold because he was so enthralled with these little creatures he had never seen before.
We had to leave Florida because of Hurricane Matthew. We ended up driving to Chickamauga, Georgia to visit with family. We went to visit one of my favorite places to visit when I was a child- Rock City!
