No news is good news! Oliver is doing awesome!
I can’t believe my last post was in October! I have fallen behind in life! I will try to sum up the last few months.
Oliver had another surgery in November. He had a tear duct probe placed in his right eye (which once again he pulled out a week after it was placed), adenoids removed, and a tube placed in his left ear (they were unable to place one in the right ear because the canal was too small). While he was under general anesthesia, he also had another ABR (hearing) study. With the tube in his left ear, he only has mild hearing loss! The right ear still has moderate loss, but they are thinking the left ear will compensate for the right.
Goals Oliver has reached:
1. Crawling across the room
2. Pulling self up to stand
3. Walking along objects (such as the coach and coffee table)
4. Standing up in the middle of the floor
5. Walking with a walker
Oliver’s Favorites:
1. Rap (Turn Down for What by DJ Snake and Lil Jon)
2. Ethan
3. Bath time
4. Dogs
5. Balls
Oliver Hates:
1. Trying different foods
2. Sea creature bath toys
3. Baby dolls
4. When I make him stop licking the windows
Oliver is such a sweetheart! He can brighten a gloomy day for just about anyone! There is this light in his eyes that I have never seen before. It is amazing! I think we can all learn something from Oliver’s unconditional love. He will make complete strangers laugh. I was at Riverside for an appointment, and Oliver made this little old lady smile. She waddled over to put her little old lady hands on him. She held his hand and smiled with tears in her eyes. I do not know what she was doing at the hospital. Maybe visiting her dying husband? or her sick child? or a dear friend? I have no idea, but the woman looked sad. But Oliver was able to make her smile, even if it was only but for a moment. Oliver is a sweet reminder of how precious life is and how we should love every moment.
Ethan and Charlie are absolutely crazy about Oliver! Oliver definitely won the jackpot with his two older siblings! They are so great with him. Ethan has such a tender heart and has the gift of empathy. He hates to see Oliver in pain or upset. Ethan is great at comforting Oliver. I am pretty sure Ethan is Oliver’s go to person! Charlie is full of energy and loves to play with him! She might love him too much. Charlie kind of smothers Oliver in love. She has a hard time giving him space because all she wants to do is love on him! I would say Ethan and Charlie are blessings to us all! I lov e how each of my kids have a different gift and each gift is such a blessing to our family and those we encounter on a daily basis!
