Goodbye 2022

I don’t really celebrate a new year, but I do look forward to birthdays. I really don’t know why. I know that many people look at it as new beginnings and a new start to the year and even set new goals. For me, it is a continuation of the year before. Birthdays on the other hand are a big deal! To be able to celebrate another year of life is a big deal for me! That is something I like to celebrate.

This past year my kids have grown so much. Ethan turned 16 and started driving. Not only is he driving, but he is officially taller than me. Charlie has outgrown three different pairs of jeans this 8th grade year. My wild and crazy Oliver is finally growing! I can’t believe how the years are going by so quickly. Luke and I have celebrated our 17 years of marriage.

Working hard in the garden- or watching the parents work hard while the kids take a break

Life isn’t always easy. I know that sometimes it can look easy in pictures, but there have been lots of bumps along the road. My kids have been good kids with some sass along the way. Having a child born with Down syndrome has been challenging. I am thankful that I have Luke to lean on. We all need someone. Today, I have been so exhausted. Then I see this picture below and see why I do it. His smile is contagious. I love him and the way he smells. I love his laugh. I love the way he hugs me when he thinks I am upset. He is so worth it.

I am looking forward to celebrating the coming birthdays and aging with my husband and kids. I look forward to new wrinkles (hopefully from smiling!). I look forward to someday watching my kids leave the house to go on their way and join the world. Cheers to another day!
