Our couples trip to Key West has been and amazing trip. I don’t want it to end! I am writing this as we are flying home. It is really hot and humid in Key West in July, but it has been sunny and beautiful every single day! I love the different types of palm trees and the beautiful emerald green water that you can see through.

It was relaxing going to the beach. Ft Zachary Taylor was our favorite. They have chairs, and umbrella rentals. They have food and drinks. The restrooms were clean! We even drove an hour to Bohia Honda beach. It wasn’t worth the drive. I enjoyed going to the beach every day with the little fish. Then one day we were out in the ocean swimming, I was having a great time. Then I look over and see a fish that was about two and half feet and it swam not even a foot behind Luke. That was all it took and it ended the swimming in the ocean for me! We had to swim in our hotel pool. Our pool was on point! It was on top of our hotel. The offered free snacks and drinks. Who wouldn’t want to go there?

I haven’t weighed myself since I am not home, but I probably will avoid it. We ate so much food and drink so many delicious drinks. The food was so much fun to experience. La Grignote had the most amazing breakfast. My only regret is that we didn’t go there everyday. We loved Santiago Bodega! The food was really good. I don’t even like bread pudding, but it was an explosion in your mouth. The made it with bourbon and brown sugar deliciousness! The Seaside Cafe is known for their lobster pizza and my husband said it great. La Grignote had the most amazing breakfast. My only regret is that we didn’t go there everyday. But we did want to go to other places. I loved Only Wood. Great atmosphere. They have two locations and we went to both. 915 was great. We did tapas and Luke was not a fan. He really likes to have a main dish of meat. I am smiling as I type this because we are polar opposites.

This was the Only Wood location (do not confuse with the Only Wood Grille). I forgot to mention there are chickens everywhere! There are protected by the state. You can’t even kill them to eat them! I died laughing when I saw them using the crosswalk. The server had to spray water on them to keep them out of the restaurant.

Only Wood had a cat that must have hung around. It liked our table.

915 really relaxing atmosphere. I love this man so very much!

The Seaside Cafe was WILD! There were pigeons, chickens, and lizards while we were eating! I thought it was very entertaining. The server said there was a pair that was always there and they happened to hang out with us. We named them Richard and Rusty. Only seemed appropriate since they are friends.
I have to share about our hotel. H2O it was everything I expected and more. The people were so kind and the place was so clean. They came in every day to clean and replace linens and towels. They brought in water, two chocolates, and two Dove ice cream bars. It really is the small things that make a difference. H2O is adults only. It was so relaxing. The pool was clean. I was so happy we could walk to almost everything!
Being away has been so good for the soul and for our relationship. I think a reset is needed every once in a while. Life can be hard sometimes. And, sometimes we just need to get away! This was much needed. We know this is something we will be doing again in the future. I know I haven’t smiled that much in a long time.

I was riding on the back with Luke and then he asked me if I wanted my own! Duh! I was wild and crazy! I rode without a helmet! As I was driving my heart rate went a little crazy because of all the things I saw working in the emergency department. Then I calmed down! It was so much fun!

This is what it looks like to kid-less for an entire week!
